Delhi, as the capital of India and a major population centre, has a large number of hotels to suit most pockets. For cheaper rates, the best area is Paharganj, just west of New Delhi, Railway Station, which is known for is it's range of affordable hotels, restaurants, dhabas (cheap restaurants) and a wide variety of shops catering to both domestic travelers and foreign tourists.

Backpacker hostels

The best place to head to for those seeking cheap accommodation is Main Bazaar. This street is packed with hostels and although prices have gone up a bit, you can still find fairly inexpensive places to sleep. It often pays to get a room at the back of the guesthouse because the street can be noisy at night.. It is also advisable to ask for a receipt when you pay for your accommodation. Main Bazaar is also a good option because it is only a short walk from the main train station.

Property
